History

Dustin and his father, Tony, began making wine in 2003. Small scale wine making exposed Dustin to the vibrant regional community of people developing and fostering a strong wine industry based on cold hardy grape varieties. This experience led Dustin to a new vision for what to do with his small, former dairy farm outside of Rochester, Minnesota. In 2004, with the help of family, Dustin planted what would be the first two blocks of 300 cold hardy grape vines. By 2006, after working several years with available grape varieties, Dustin and family took the leap and started Salem Glen Vineyard & Winery. The winery opened the tasting room doors in July 2007, and expanded in 2009 to add a new tasting room and event space. Salem Glen's focus is producing world class wines made from cold hardy grape varieties and introducing these wines to visitors from near and far.
